Last Wednesday we went to the Military Museum. At the military Museum I climbed around on a real tank. after that I went on a anti-air gun then in a real air fighter!
On Friday we went to Pingyao. It took us 3 hours on a train and then 1.5 hours in a bus, and 5 minutes in a battery powered car to get there. At Pingyao we lived in a Guest House. This was a traditional Chinese house with lots of small rooms arranged around courtyards.
The next day in the morning we went to the Pingyao wall. On the top of the wall there was a tower which was the HQ. Close to the tower there was a lift that took you up so you could shoot down with a bow and arrow. Next to the lift there was something that used to connect to the lift. On the wall there was a siege machine that had a ladder that folded up so you could get up the wall. On the wall there were lots of stone windows. Near the siege machine there was a display of cannons.
In the afternoon we went to the Qiao family compound. The Qiao family compound is where the movie raise the red lantern was filmed. It was really crowded there. We saw the rooms where the 4th mistress (si tai tai) and 3rd mistress (san tai tai) in the movie lived.
On Sunday morning as we were leaving Pingyao, we saw a camel. Suzanna sat on it! Then we took our bus to the Chang family compound. I liked this place. It had a really big garden which we sat and played in. There were loads of rocks that we could jump to in the middle of the stream. We climbed to the top of a tower which was really tall, we had a good view over the Chang family compound and fields. The fields were all ploughed ready for planting.
In the afternoon we went to Jinci Temple. At Jinci Temple there was a really nice pond that had goldfish in it. There was also a spring that had walls going through it that you could walk along. From a zig zag bridge we saw a fresh water boatman in the water. The spring was very famous as the water was supposed to be very good for you. It was called the never aging spring. We sat on the grass and played before we went to Taiyuan and caught the train back to Beijing.
